Concrete Basement Floors

Concrete Basement Floors done right the first time

A bare basement floor is cold, dusty and hard to keep clean, and it is often cracked, stained or damp in spots. If you are turning the basement into a shop, a gym, storage or finished living space, the floor is the first thing to get right. Wet Southern Oregon winters push moisture up through slabs poured without a barrier, and the expansive clay in parts of the valley can crack an older floor. Paint from a can peels off fast down there. A floor that lasts needs real prep and the right system.

Concrete coatings are the specialty at Rogue Valley Concrete Pro, and a basement floor gets the same process as any floor we coat. We diamond grind the concrete clean first, since that prep is what makes a coating stay down, then repair cracks, apply primer and base coat, broadcast flake or lay a metallic or colored quartz layer, and finish with a clear polyurethane or polyaspartic top coat. When a floor is too far gone, we break it out and pour new, as we did with damaged interior floors in a historic 1920s log cabin.

What's included

Our concrete basement floors services

  • 01

    Flake and epoxy floor coatings

Decorative flake systems and epoxy coatings that turn bare concrete into a finished floor that is easy to sweep and mop.

  • 02

    Metallic and quartz systems

Metallic epoxy for a poured-stone look in finished living space, or a colored quartz sand system for a textured, slip-resistant floor.

  • 03

    Diamond grinding prep

The floor is diamond ground to open the surface and remove old paint, sealer and stains, which is what lets the coating bond and stay down.

  • 04

    Crack repair

Cracks are filled by epoxy injection, polyurethane filling or routing and sealing before any coating goes on.

  • 05

    Moisture checks and sealing

We check the slab for moisture before coating, and a clear sealer is an option where you want plain concrete that resists dust and stains.

  • 06

    New basement floor pours

Broken or heaved floors are broken out and replaced with new concrete over a compacted gravel base and vapor barrier, ready to coat.

Customer reviews

What our customers say

  • “I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

  • “I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

  • “Tim was undoubtedly our best choice for a concrete floor on which to build a shed/storage building. They not only arrived on time and as promised, but their staff was always very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, they did an exceptional job. In the end, the concrete floor turned out even better than we expected, and they also left our backyard spotless after packing up all their tools. We would definitely hire Concrete Coating Enterprises again and highly recommend them.”

Questions

Concrete Basement Floors FAQs

Will a coating hold up on a damp Southern Oregon basement floor?

It can, once the moisture is understood. Wet winters raise soil moisture around the foundation, and slabs poured without a vapor barrier let it wick up and push a coating off from below. We check the slab before we coat, grind it clean so the primer bonds, and deal with leaking cracks and drainage first where water is actively coming in.

How much does a basement floor coating cost?

It depends on the size of the floor, how much crack repair and grinding it needs and the system you choose, since flake, metallic and quartz each take different materials and time. A floor with old paint or adhesive to remove takes more prep. We give you a free estimate after seeing it.

Can you coat a floor that has cracks?

Yes. Cracks are repaired first by epoxy injection, polyurethane filling or routing and sealing, then the floor is ground and coated. Flake and quartz systems also blend repaired areas into the finished floor.

Can you replace a broken basement floor instead?

Yes. When a floor is heaved, crumbling or broken into pieces, we break it out, haul it off, build a compacted gravel base with a vapor barrier and pour a new slab. Once it has cured, the new floor can be coated like any other.

How soon can I use the basement after coating?

Fairly quickly, depending on the system and the top coat. Polyaspartic top coats cure faster than many epoxy systems, and we tell you when the floor is ready for foot traffic and when furniture and heavier loads can go back.
