Block Walls & Masonry
Block Walls & Masonry done right the first time
You need a wall that is strong, square and built to last, or brickwork that looks right and holds together. That might be a block wall to hold back a slope, a privacy wall along the property line, brick steps up to the front door or a chimney that is shedding mortar. Block and brick both handle Southern Oregon well when they are built right, but wet winters, frost and freeze-thaw cycles work into every open joint, and the clay soil in parts of the valley moves under any wall that lacks a solid footing.
Rogue Valley Concrete Pro builds and repairs masonry with our own crew. For block walls we pour a reinforced footing, lay the block plumb and level, set rebar and grout the cores where the wall carries load or holds back soil, then cap or parge it. On the brick side, our work includes custom brick landings with curved brick steps at a historic 1920s log cabin, along with chimney masonry repair. We take on residential and commercial masonry across the Rogue Valley, and customers mention honesty and a crew that cleans up.

Customer reviews
What our customers say
“I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

“I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

“Tim was undoubtedly our best choice for a concrete floor on which to build a shed/storage building. They not only arrived on time and as promised, but their staff was always very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, they did an exceptional job. In the end, the concrete floor turned out even better than we expected, and they also left our backyard spotless after packing up all their tools. We would definitely hire Concrete Coating Enterprises again and highly recommend them.”

“This company is very professional and finished the job quickly. Tim is honest and knowledgeable as he addressed any questions in a timely manner. He even came back a couple days after the concrete hardened and pressure washed both areas at no cost. Thank you!”

Questions
Block Walls & Masonry FAQs
Will block and brick hold up to Southern Oregon winters?
Yes, when they are built for it. Wet winters and frost on the valley floor, with harder freezes up toward Prospect and Butte Falls, push water into open joints and loosen mortar over time. A reinforced footing on firm soil, full mortar joints, grouted cores, a cap that sheds water and drainage behind any wall that holds back dirt keep it sound.
What does a block wall or masonry repair cost?
It comes down to the length and height of the wall, if it holds back soil, how much steel and grout it needs and the finish you pick. For repair work, it depends on how much brick and mortar has failed and how hard it is to reach, like a chimney. We give you a free estimate on site.
Block wall or poured concrete wall?
Block suits most garden, privacy, foundation and shop walls and goes up well in tight spots. Poured walls make sense for some tall retaining walls and below-grade walls under heavy load. We build both, so we recommend whichever fits the job.
Do you repair chimneys and old brick?
Yes. We reset loose brick, repoint worn mortar joints and repair chimney masonry, matching the existing brick and mortar as closely as we can. Our restoration work also covers spalled concrete and worn steps around older homes.
Do I need a permit for a block wall?
Some walls do, usually taller retaining walls and walls that are part of a building. We check with the city or Jackson or Josephine County and pull the permit when one is needed. Short garden walls often need none, though some HOAs set rules on height and finish.
