Concrete Foundations
Concrete Foundations done right the first time
A new home, addition or shop is only as level and dry as the foundation under it. You want floors that stay flat, walls that do not crack and water that stays outside. Southern Oregon gives a foundation plenty to handle. Parts of the Rogue Valley sit on expansive clay that swells in wet winters and shrinks in hot, dry summers, hillside lots in Ashland and Jacksonville often sit on decomposed granite, and frost reaches the valley floor while Shady Cove, Prospect and Butte Falls see harder freezes. The right foundation starts with your lot and your plans.
Rogue Valley Concrete Pro builds concrete foundations from the dirt up with our own crew: excavation, footings, forms, rebar, stem walls or slab, and the pour. We set anchor bolts where the framing lands, damp-proof below-grade walls, lay drain pipe along the footing and backfill so water runs away from the building. Slab work goes down the way our driveway and patio pours do, on compacted gravel with rebar grids tied in place. We pull the permit with the city or Jackson or Josephine County and schedule each inspection. Our crew is licensed, bonded and insured under Oregon CCB #260341.

What's included
Our concrete foundations services
- 01
Footings and stem walls
Continuous footings with a poured stem wall on top for homes, additions and crawl spaces, formed and reinforced to your plans.
- 02
Slab foundations
Monolithic and thickened-edge slabs for shops, garages and outbuildings, poured on a compacted gravel base with rebar and a vapor barrier where the building needs one.
- 03
Addition foundations
Foundations for room and garage additions, doweled into the existing foundation and set to match the floor height of the house.
- 04
Shop, garage and barn foundations
Foundations for detached shops, garages and barns on rural properties, with anchor bolts and hold-downs set where the framing goes.
- 05
Hillside and stepped foundations
On sloped lots we step the footings and walls with the grade so every section bears on firm soil, a common need on hillside lots around Ashland and Jacksonville.
- 06
Drainage and damp-proofing
Damp-proofing on the soil side of below-grade walls and drain pipe along the footing, so wet-season water moves away instead of sitting against the foundation.
How it works
How a foundation job works
- 1
Free on-site estimate
We walk the lot, go over your plans, and talk through soil, slope, drainage and the foundation type that fits.
- 2
Permit, layout and dig
We pull the permit with the city or county, stake out the foundation from the plans, get utilities marked and excavate to firm bearing soil.
- 3
Forms, steel and inspection
We form the footings and walls or prep the slab base, place rebar to the plans and have each stage inspected before concrete goes in.
- 4
Pour, strip and backfill
We pour and finish, strip the forms, set drain pipe, then backfill and grade so water runs away from the building.
Customer reviews
What our customers say
“I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

“I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

“We hired Tim to extend our pool deck and resurface our existing pool deck. Tim is reliable and is very knowledgeable. If you are looking for a concrete guy, Tim is your man.”

“Tim was undoubtedly our best choice for a concrete floor on which to build a shed/storage building. They not only arrived on time and as promised, but their staff was always very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, they did an exceptional job. In the end, the concrete floor turned out even better than we expected, and they also left our backyard spotless after packing up all their tools. We would definitely hire Concrete Coating Enterprises again and highly recommend them.”

“This company is very professional and finished the job quickly. Tim is honest and knowledgeable as he addressed any questions in a timely manner. He even came back a couple days after the concrete hardened and pressure washed both areas at no cost. Thank you!”

Questions
Concrete Foundations FAQs
What foundation works best on Southern Oregon soil?
One that bears on firm, undisturbed soil below the frost line and keeps water moving away. Expansive clay in parts of the Rogue Valley calls for solid reinforcement and drainage, while decomposed granite on the hillsides drains well but needs careful compaction and stepped footings on a slope. We look at your lot and plans before recommending a slab or a stem wall foundation.
How much does a new concrete foundation cost?
It depends on the foundation type, its size and depth, the wall height and rebar your plans call for, and how easy the site is to dig and reach with a concrete truck. Drainage work and hillside steps add to it. We give you a free estimate after walking the lot, so you are working from a real number instead of a guess.
Do I need a permit for a new foundation?
For a house, addition or most shops, yes. We check requirements with the city or Jackson or Josephine County, pull the permit and schedule inspections so footings and steel are signed off before each pour. Customers mention great communication, which matters most when a job runs on an inspection calendar.
Can you build to my builder's or engineer's plans?
Yes. We pour foundations for homeowners running their own build and for builders who need the foundation in on schedule. Bring the plans and we build to them, from footing size to anchor bolt layout.
Do you also repair existing foundations?
Yes. Cracked, settling and bowing foundations are covered on our foundation repair page, with push and helical piers, crack repair by epoxy injection and carbon fiber reinforcement. This page covers new foundations.
