Concrete Footings
Concrete Footings done right the first time
Everything you build sits on its footings. When they are too shallow, too small or poured on soft fill, it shows up later as a cracked wall, a door that sticks or a deck post that sinks. Southern Oregon makes the details matter. Frost reaches the valley floor and freezes run harder up in Shady Cove, Prospect and Butte Falls, parts of the valley sit on expansive clay, and hillside lots often turn up decomposed granite. For a room addition, a shop or a new deck, the footing has to reach firm soil below the frost line.
Rogue Valley Concrete Pro handles footings start to finish with our own crew. We dig the trenches or pier holes, check the bottom for soft spots, set forms and rebar to the plans, call for the inspection and pour. What goes under the concrete is where we put the effort: customers mention a spa slab we built heavier than the other bids, with a thicker beam, bigger rebar and a compacted crushed-rock base. We pull permits with the city or Jackson or Josephine County and build to what the inspector needs to see.

How a footing job works
- 1
Free on-site estimate
We walk the site, look over your plans or sketch, and talk through soil, slope and access.
- 2
Layout, permit and locates
We lay out the footing lines, pull the permit with the city or county and get buried utilities marked before we dig.
- 3
Dig, form and set steel
We dig to firm soil below the frost line, form where needed and place rebar to the plans, then the inspector checks it.
- 4
Pour and clean up
Once the footing passes, we pour, strike it level, set any anchor bolts or post bases and clean up for the next stage.
Customer reviews
What our customers say
“I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

“I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

Pool deck extension & resurfacing · Google review of Concrete Coating Enterprises
“Tim was undoubtedly our best choice for a concrete floor on which to build a shed/storage building. They not only arrived on time and as promised, but their staff was always very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, they did an exceptional job. In the end, the concrete floor turned out even better than we expected, and they also left our backyard spotless after packing up all their tools. We would definitely hire Concrete Coating Enterprises again and highly recommend them.”

Questions
Concrete Footings FAQs
How deep do footings need to go in Southern Oregon?
Below the frost line and onto firm, undisturbed soil, with the minimum set by local code. Frost reaches the valley floor and runs deeper at higher elevations like Shady Cove, Prospect and Butte Falls. Depth is only half of it, since the bottom has to be solid native soil or decomposed granite, not loose fill, and we confirm that before we pour.
How much do concrete footings cost?
It depends on how many footings the job needs, how large and deep they are, how much rebar the plans call for and how easy the ground is to dig. Access for equipment and the concrete truck matters too. We give you a free estimate after seeing the site.
Do footings need a permit and inspection?
For a house, addition, garage or most decks, yes. We check requirements with the city or Jackson or Josephine County, pull the permit and schedule the pour around the footing inspection.
What is the difference between a footing and a foundation?
The footing is the wide base at the bottom that spreads the building's weight into the soil. The foundation is the whole system, including the stem walls or slab on top of it. We build both, and on most jobs the footing and the wall or slab above it are one project.
Can you pour footings for a deck or addition my builder is framing?
Yes. We work for homeowners and for builders and framers who need footings in and inspected on schedule. Tell us when framing starts and we plan the dig and pour around it.
