Concrete Steps, Stairs & Porches

Concrete Steps, Stairs & Porches done right the first time

Steps get used every day and take a beating. Edges chip and crumble, treads wear smooth and slick, a stoop pulls away from the house, or the risers are uneven enough that people stumble. Winter rain and frost make a worn step slippery, and freezes at higher elevations break off loose edges. Sometimes the steps are sound but look tired next to a new walkway or porch. Good steps need even risers, a solid base and a surface that grips in the wet.

Rogue Valley Concrete Pro builds and restores steps, stairs and porches across Southern Oregon. One of our jobs was a set of worn concrete stairs we restored and finished with a new coating. At a historic 1920s log cabin we built custom brick landings with curved brick steps to go with new concrete walkways. We form and pour new steps and porches, rebuild broken edges with repair mortar, and add slip-resistant coatings on concrete ground or blasted clean first. Our crew is licensed, bonded and insured, Oregon CCB #260341, and we handle the permit when a job needs one.

  • 01

    New concrete steps

Front and back steps formed and poured with even risers and treads, on a solid base so they do not pull away from the house.

    Porches and landings

Concrete porches, stoops and landings at the door, sized so there is room to stand while you open it.

  • 03

    Stair repair

Chipped edges, spalled treads and cracked risers rebuilt with repair mortar from makers like Sika and Master Builders.

  • 04

    Step and stair coatings

Worn stairs given a new coating, including slip-resistant finishes. The steps are ground or blasted clean first, which is what keeps the coating down.

  • 06

    Tear-out and replacement

Customer reviews

What our customers say

  • “I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

  • “I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

  • “Tim was undoubtedly our best choice for a concrete floor on which to build a shed/storage building. They not only arrived on time and as promised, but their staff was always very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Best of all, they did an exceptional job. In the end, the concrete floor turned out even better than we expected, and they also left our backyard spotless after packing up all their tools. We would definitely hire Concrete Coating Enterprises again and highly recommend them.”

  • “This company is very professional and finished the job quickly. Tim is honest and knowledgeable as he addressed any questions in a timely manner. He even came back a couple days after the concrete hardened and pressure washed both areas at no cost. Thank you!”

Questions

Concrete Steps, Stairs & Porches FAQs

Should I repair, coat or replace my concrete steps?

Repair and coat them if the steps are solid and the problems are on the surface: worn treads, chipped edges, cracks or stains. Replace them if they have pulled away from the house, settled out of level or cracked through. We tell you which one your steps need when we see them.

Why do concrete steps crumble at the edges here?

Water and freezing. Rain and snowmelt soak into edges and corners, and freeze-thaw at higher elevations like Shady Cove, Prospect and Butte Falls pops loose concrete off a little at a time. Frost on the valley floor does the same, more slowly. Rebuilding the edges and sealing or coating the steps keeps water out.

How much do new concrete steps cost?

It depends on how many steps you need, the width, any landing or porch, the finish and if old steps have to come out. Repairing and coating a sound set of steps is usually a smaller job than tearing out and pouring new. We give you a free estimate on site, and we accept credit cards.

Can you make slippery steps safer?

Yes. We apply slip-resistant coatings to steps, walkways and patios, and new steps get a finish that grips in the rain. Coated steps are ground or blasted clean first so the coating stays down on treads that see daily foot traffic.

Do you build porches and landings too?

Yes. We form and pour concrete porches, stoops and landings, and we have built brick landings with curved brick steps. A landing at the door gives you room to stand while the door swings, and we build it with the steps so they tie together.
