Sidewalks & Walkways

Sidewalks & Walkways done right the first time

A walkway is the first thing guests use and the easiest place to trip. Maybe the front walk is cracked and lifted by roots, a panel along the street has settled into a step, or you are tired of a muddy path from the driveway to the door. In town, a broken sidewalk in the right-of-way can also bring a notice from the city asking you to fix it. Wet winters and frost on the valley floor turn a lifted edge or a puddle on the walk from an eyesore into a hazard.

Rogue Valley Concrete Pro builds and repairs sidewalks and walkways across Southern Oregon. We do city right-of-way sidewalk repairs, breaking out failed panels and pouring new ones to the city's requirements. Our walkway work includes a new stone-pattern stamped walkway, and charcoal-colored walkways at a historic log cabin with the family's own natural stones set in. We also patch worn walks and add slip-resistant coatings, on concrete ground or blasted clean first. We handle the permit when a sidewalk job needs one, and our crew is licensed, bonded and insured, Oregon CCB #260341.

Customer reviews

What our customers say

  • “I hired Concrete Coating Enterprises LLC to do extensive concrete work on my family’s historic 1920s log cabin, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! The cabin had significant cracks and issues with its original concrete floors. They removed the damaged sections, properly prepared the foundation, and poured new concrete in the kitchen and dining areas. They also created beautiful custom brick landings, curved steps, and charcoal-colored concrete walkways incorporating original natural stones from our family property. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding! What I appreciated just as much as the quality of their work was their excellent communication, reliability, and professionalism. They showed up when expected, kept me informed throughout the project, listened to my ideas, and worked with me to achieve the look I wanted. Renovating a cabin over 100 years old comes with unexpected challenges, and they handled the work with care, patience, and pride.”

  • “I had collected about three or four different estimates and Tim's price was lowest. I determined to see why it was lowest and see if I could endure that. Instead, what I discovered is Tim's job was way more than anybody else was offering instead of setting a 6 inch beam in my Spa slab. He said a 12 inch beam and he increased the rebar to half inch. But it really impressed me was another job he did for me on the sidewalk where the same as with the spa he used 4 inches of crushed rock compacted before he lay his forms out and then instead of using wire he actually use rebar. Basically he's an old-fashioned guy working in today's times where his work is more important than his profits.”

  • “This company is very professional and finished the job quickly. Tim is honest and knowledgeable as he addressed any questions in a timely manner. He even came back a couple days after the concrete hardened and pressure washed both areas at no cost. Thank you!”

Questions

Sidewalks & Walkways FAQs

Who has to fix the sidewalk in front of my house?

Often the property owner, even though the sidewalk sits in the public right-of-way, but the rules vary from city to city. The city also sets how the repair has to be done. We do city right-of-way sidewalk repairs and handle the permit when one is needed.

Why do sidewalks heave and crack here?

Roots and soil are the main causes. Oak and pine roots lift panels from below, expansive clay in parts of the valley swells in wet winters and shrinks in dry summers, and irrigation runoff can soften the base along a walk. When we replace a panel, we correct the base and cut joints so the new concrete has a planned place to crack.

How much does sidewalk repair or a new walkway cost?

It depends on the length and width, how many panels need to come out, the finish and if the work is in the city right-of-way. Grinding down a trip edge is a much smaller job than replacing a run of sidewalk. We look at it and give you a free estimate, and we accept credit cards.

Can a lifted sidewalk be fixed without replacing it?

Sometimes. A small lip can be ground flush, and a settled panel in good shape can be lifted back to level. A panel that is cracked through or pushed up by a root usually needs to come out and be poured new.

Can you make my walkway less slippery?

Yes. We apply slip-resistant coatings to walkways, patios and steps, which helps on walks that stay wet or frosty through the winter. The surface is ground or blasted clean first, then the coating goes down with a textured finish for traction.
